HELP University Shines at Food & Hospitality (FHM) 2025!

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 September 2025 – Students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism at HELP University achieved remarkable success at the prestigious Malaysia Culinaire 2025 and the Malaysian Association of Housekeepers (MAHIR) Housekeeping competitions, held in conjunction with Food & Hospitality Malaysia (FHM) 2025 from 23rd to 25th September 2025.

The team’s strategic preparation and rigorous training led to top honors, demonstrating their readiness for national professional excellence.


Key Individual Achievements

HELP University students excelled across technical and creative categories, securing a Champion title and two Gold medals:

Bed Making Competition (Individual Junior): James Ng Jia Yu was crowned Champion.

Mocktail Competition: Howard Chong Zhan Hao earned a Gold Medal.

Malaysian Local Fruit Caramelization & Flambé: Alvin Wong Min Juin also secured a Gold Medal.


These victories underscore the students’ dedication, technical mastery, and creative flair, confirming their strong competencies within the hospitality industry.

Commitment to Excellence and Mentorship

The achievements are a testament to the comprehensive training and strategic mentorship provided by the School of Hospitality and Tourism faculty. Special acknowledgment is given to the dedicated coaches and trainers:

Muhamad Syahir, Coach and Trainer for the Housekeeping competition.

Gobinath Selvanayagam, Coach and Trainer for Food and Beverage Service.

Teh Wee Leon, second Coach and Trainer for Food and Beverage Service.

“These victories are a direct result of strategic planning, rigorous training, and the deep commitment shown by both our students and their coaches,” said Associate Professor Dr. Alice Lim Soo Mang, Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism. “We are immensely proud that their hard work aligns with HELP University’s values of Pride of Achievement and Sharing Success.”

The FHM 2025 event, a premier biennial trade show hosting 1,500 companies and 25,000 professionals, served as a dynamic platform where HELP University’s emerging talent shone brightly, positioning them for successful careers in the global hospitality and tourism sector.
